Everybody needs Jesus, right? But why?
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:32).
Ok, sure. I've sinned plenty… so what?
"The wages of sin is death…" (Romans 6:23a)
Oh really? That means I'm in trouble!
"...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23b)
Cool! How do I claim that gift? I need it pretty bad!
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life" (Romans 6:4)
"When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers, what shall we do?' Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:37-38)
You see, Jesus was born to die to live. He was sent to this earth, God in the flesh, to save humanity from eternal death. When Jesus died on the cross, it looked like Satan had won. No one knows exactly what went on in Hades while His body was in the tomb. But on the third day, a promise was honored and Jesus came out of the tomb.
Jesus is all we have to hold on to. Everything else in this world crumbles and lets us down. Jesus is always there for us. What else would you expect from a Savior?
We love you Jesus. We praise you God for sending Jesus! Bring us home, but until then… help us to live for you, 24-7.
